Peppermint Mate

Today's Tea Profile is a tea that is very dear to the heart: Peppermint Mate.

The combination of these two herbs is nothing short of magical. Yerba mate has a superb mix of nutrients, antioxidants and caffeine in just the right amount (more than green tea, less than coffee). Peppermint is one of those herbs that sweeps the cobwebs out of your system and refreshes on every level. Together they provide an instant effect, transforming the dullest, grumpy, tired morning into a fresh new start.

I crafted this blend out of pure need. As a new mother, I struggled with multiple night wakes that went on for months (ok, it was years). My mental health started to go down the drain, my digestive and nervous systems did too. Peppermint Mate gently and effectively improved everything.  I began to turn to it during my lowest times and when I did it felt like a hug, a pat on the back, a push up the hill.

This tea is also a wonderful beverage for those of us who choose to refrain from alcohol.  Mate is great when you need to go out, stay out and have fun! Its mood enhancing effects are beautiful and do not drop you out the other end like most stimulants. I often bring this tea with my gourd (vessel) and bombilla (metal tea straw) to parties, where I often get asked if I am holding a bong.

Uplift yourself with this wonderful coffee replacement.

Support your immune system during seasonal shifts and times of added stress.

Enhance digestion.

Super-boost your mood.

Flavour profile: Earthy, herbaceous, vegetal, smoky, sweet, mild tannin, minty, aromatic, slight bitter note, straight up yum.

Flashback to a morning after I had been up all night with an unwell child. This saved my bacon. This is how you consume yerba mate in the traditional style with vessel and bombilla. A teapot/french press does the job too.
